LARGE 11 JEWEL

SHIP’S BELL

8 DAY CLOCK No. 66 – Ca 1948

Seth Thomas has been noted for its ship’s clocks for
well over 100 years, and in its early days, was the sole provider to the U.S. Navy

STAND INCLUDED ~ A $75.00 VALUE

Presented is a very rare, vintage, eight day, 11 Jewel movement,
striking bell clock whose design introduction dates to 1921, and this one with a movement signed and dated,
9 – 1948. It
is only the second we’ve had in this larger size, making it very rare and suitable for presentation as
an important gift. The No. 115 movement closely resembles, and is the equal of Chelsea’s similar Ship’s Bell
design, but has the added special feature of the Seth Thomas patented self-correcting rack and snail ship’s bell striking
design. It is housed in a very heavy, forged bronze case with screw on bezel. It should not be mistaken for clocks
of lesser quality such as the more ubiquitous Merrimack, Mayflower, Helmsman or Corsair models, or those with a
German movement.

CONDITION: This internal bell clock is in especially fine condition with a near blemish
free face, and overall very good condition. It is running strong and keeping good time compared to an accurate
quartz watch, and is striking the bells each half hour in proper sequence. The case shows some marks of age and use with
an occassional casting blemish, but these are minor in respect to the clocks overall good looks. We recommend it be wound
about every four days for best timekeeping.
