FANCY SHIPS BELL ROPES The
Lost Art of Marlin Spike Seamanship!

To view our collection of bells, click here!
There is nothing more distracting then to have a handsome ship's bell with a shabby rope hanging from its clapper!
Presented are two styles and sizes of traditional
bell ropes which will dress up your bell and add a touch of fancy rope-work for a proper display.
Bells have
a long history at sea and ashore for making announcements, signaling and sounding alarm. At sea they are used for “call
to quarters”, when at anchor in a fog, and more frequently to announce the change of the watch.
Our bell ropes are
made in the same manner that sailor's of the 1850's practiced marlin spike seamanship and fancy rope-work, a tedious, and
time consuming process. But they are at very reasonable prices. LARGE TAN BELL ROPE: is based
on a three strand rope with two three strand turks heads and one two strand Turk's head.
